    1. Yes, Abhrak bhasma is beneficial in kidney diseases including chronic renal failure and nephritis. In ayurveda, Sarvatobhadra Vati is a main medicine used for kidney failure and its main ingredients is Abhrak Bhasma.

    1. Abhrak bhasma contains magnesium, aluminum, silicon, potassium, iron etc. These metals are also used in conventional medicine.
India Govt. Department AYUSH has restricted exporting medicines containing these bhasmas, so you may not get Abhrak bhasma in Australia.

  1. Abhrak bhasma also contains titanium, which might have dangerous effects on health. Sir, what is your opinion regarding this?

    1. We should not worry about titanium content in abhrak bhasma because its urinary secretion is very high. It also eliminates in feces without absorption, according to research.

Many food products contain titanium ranging from 0.5 to 3mcg/gram. For example, maple syrup contains 0.5 to 6.1mcg/g titanium.

Science does not know much about titanium functions in human body, so it is not dietary essential for us. However, it does not mean that it is unsafe.
Titanium content in abhrak bhasma is also very low and in ignorable level if we consider the regular use of food containing titanium.

  2. Is abhrak bhasma safe in kidney diseases? My father has breathing trouble and weakness and he is also diagnosed with renal failure. Can we give abhrak bhasma to him for improving strength and treating breathing trouble?

    1. You should first try ashwagandha with long pepper before using abhrak bhasma. You can give stress com capsule by dabur. It contains ashwagandha extract and it might safe to use in patients with kidney failure.

You should consult physician before using abhrak bhasma. However, in ayurvedic text, there is remedy for kidney failure containing abhrak bhasma. Its name is Sarvatobhadra vati. It contains abhrak bhasma, rajat bhasma, swarna bhasma, shilajeet and vanga bhasma. It is processed with varuna decoction. You can also use this remedy, but under the supervision of physician.

Note: please consult your attending physician before using any remedy.

I have been advised to give her Abhrak Bhasma along with Giloy Satva to mix the two powders and give 1 mg of this powder every day with honey (0.5 mg) in the morning and the same in the evening. I want to know if this is a good treatment. For how long can I continue to give this to her? Are there any side effects?

    1. 1. Dosage seems to be incorrect. Dosage should be 125 mg for Abhrak Bhasma and 500 mg for Giloy Satva.

      2. This mixture seems to be a good ayurvedic supplement and it may reduce the frequency of blood transfusion.

      3. It can be given for six months continuously. Then stop it for 2 to 4 weeks and then you can start it again.
