How important is massaging of palms and soles after instilling Anu oil in the nostrils? Can one afford to skip it or do self-massaging by bending hands/ legs in absence of another person?
The massage of palms and soles after Nasya has reflexological and psychological importance. There are some trigger points on both hands and feet. The massage of these palms and soles increases blood circulation. However, this effect is local, but it helps nourishing and stimulating the trigger points, which indirectly influence whole body by inducing relaxation. The stimulation of these trigger points is likely to induce relaxation effects.
Psychologically, a person feels more comfortable with Nasya effect and irritation produced due to Nasya medicine in the nose and throat.
One can skip this step if he is taking Anu Thailam less than 2 drops at a time. When the amount of instilling Anu Oil increases from 2 drops, then it requires standard panchakarma procedure. The massage of palms and soles becomes more important to prevent any unwanted effect.
It’s clear now. Thanks for the detailed response!
Hi,
I have been using for the past one week and have a blockage in my left nose.
I have been getting a lot of phlegm every now and then.
Is it because of decongestion?
Anu Oil decongests the nasal passage and sinuses and may temporarily increase phlegm during its use.
Hi,
My 10 yr old daughter is suffering from severe sinus and block of nostrils. There is even phlegm and congestion. How many drops of anu tailam can be used? What can be done for irritation in nose? She even have allergy, she sneezes a lot in morning time.
1. 1 drop twice a day will be sufficient dosage for 10 yr old child.
2. The irritation in the nose is normal and it will subside within a few minutes. If irritation persists, 1 drop of warm cow’s ghee should be instilled to subside it.
3. Turmeric (Haldi) with black pepper (Kali Mirch) will help reducing sneezing that occurs in the morning. For this, Turmeric should be taken 100 grams and black pepper should be taken 10 grams. Mix both and give this mixture in dosage of 1/4 tsp. with honey twice daily.
I have started taking Shadbindu oil from 1/11/2015 because of nasal allergy instead of Anu oil. Please let me know which the best is.
Both are good, but Shadbindu Oil would be more beneficial in your case.

Would Anu Thailam work for cats, also? I have two six month olds with chronic sinus problems – sneezing and runny nose. I also have a three year old with a cold. Is this formula ok or would it be too strong? Would another oil work better? Would I be able to put it in the ears instead of up the nose?
Actually, I am not sure about this because we have never used Anu Thailam in animals.
For general information, Anu Thailam is moderate nasal preparation and formulated only for nasal administration. We only use it in human children above the age of 5 years. It may not be tolerable for children below this age. It produces mild nasal irritation and thereafter sneezing may also occur, which clears the nasal passage and sinuses. Mucus discharge is observable up to 30 to 60 minutes after its instillation. After this, patients feel great relief from all symptoms.
