Arq Makoh (Kakamachi Arq)

Arq Makoh (also known as Kakamachi Arq) is a Unani Medicine prepared with distillation method from Solanum Nigrum plant. It is used for the diseases of abdominal organs including stomach, intestine, liver, and spleen. It has hepatoprotective action. Generally, it is given in combination with Arq Kasni in liver disorders for reducing hepatic inflammation and jaundice.
Ingredients (Composition)
Arq Makoh is prepared from seeds of black nightshade plant (Solanum Nigrum) using distillation method.

Water | 10 liters |
Preparation
- Take 10 liters water and soak 500 grams Solanum Nigrum dried fruits in it at least for 24 hours.
- Then, distil 4 liters Makoh Arq (aqua/distillate) using distillation equipment.

Safety Profile
Arq Makoh is likely safe for most individuals when taken in recommended dosage. But it should not be used in excess amount because the fruits of Solanum Nigrum are likely to be toxic in nature and may cause some serious side effects with a high dosage.
Side Effects of Makoh Arq
There are no side effects observed with Arq Makoh when it is taken in normal dosage. Its high dosage can cause following side effects:
- Loose stools or diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Excessive Thirst
- Abdominal pain
- Dilation of Pupils
- Headache
- Vertigo (a reeling sensation)
- Restlessness
- Convulsions
Generally, these side effects reported with excess intake of Makoh (Kakamachi) fruits, but these are also possible for Arq Makoh if its intake is exceeded from the recommended dosage.
Pregnancy & Lactation
The safety profile of Arq Makoh is not well-established for pregnant women.
The fruits (especially unripe fruits) of Solanum Nigrum are likely to be toxic in nature. Therefore, pregnant women, lactating mothers and children under age of 5 years should avoid using Arq Makoh.
