Ayurveda classifies body type based on the predominance of Dosha. There are three Dosha, known as Tridosha – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Based on these three Doshas, there are seven types of body constitution according to the predominance of a specific Dosha.

The determination and formation of the body type rely on the predominance of Dosha in ovum (egg cell/female gamete) and spermatozoon (male gamete). When spermatozoon fertilizes the ovum and forms fertilized egg, your unique body type is determined. Therefore, you cannot change your body type, but you can manage it with specific foods and lifestyle to keep yourself healthy and disease free.
