Balaguluchyadi Kashayam

Balaguluchyadi Kashayam (Kwatham) is an ayurvedic medicine mainly used for arthritic disorders, especially Rheumatoid Arthritis, Gout, and Hyperuricemia. In addition, it is also useful in cases of synovitis and general body pains. It reduces joint inflammation, pain, tenderness and burning sensation.

Devdaru – Cedrus Deodara 12 Parts
Jatamansi – Nardostachys Jatamansi 1 Part
Kushta (Indian Costus Root) – Saussurea Lappa 1 Part
Safed Chandan (White Sandalwood) – Santalum Album 1 Part
Shallaki (Salai Guggul – Indian Frankincense) – Boswellia Serrata 1 Part
Tagara – Valeriana Wallichii 1 Part
Ashwagandha – Withania Somnifera 1 Part
Sarala (Chir Pine) – Pinus Longifolia 1 Part
Rasna – Pluchea Lanceolata 1 Part
Note: Balaguluchyadi Kashayam is prepared from the ingredients of Balaguluchyadi Thailam (Oil).

Second Preparation

Ingredients 10 ml Prepared Out Of
Bala – Sida Cordifolia 11.1 grams
Guduchi (Giloy) – Tinospora Cordifolia 7.4 grams
Devdaru – Cedrus Deodara 3.7 grams
Water Q.S.

Pharmacological Actions

Balaguluchyadi Kashayam is mainly anti-inflammatory medicine, which is most useful when the patient has joint tenderness and burning sensation. Its main ingredients Bala, Giloy, and Devdaru provide relief from pain acting as an analgesic. In addition, Giloy and Devdaru both detoxify the blood and reduce toxins in the body.

Balaguluchyadi Kashayam is available in three preparations:

  2. Balaguluchyadi Kashayam Liquid
  3. Balaguluchyadi Kashayam Tablets

Balaguluchyadi Kashayam Churna

If you are using Balaguluchyadi Kashayam Churna, then take 60 grams churna in 960 ml water. Boil to reduce it 120 ml Balaguluchyadi liquid. The dosage is 30 to 60 ml.

The general dosage of Decoction (Kwath) prepared with Balaguluchyadi Kashayam Churna is as follows.
Children 15 to 30 ml *
Adults 30 to 60 ml *
Maximum Possible Dosage 120 ml Per Day (in divided doses)
* Twice a day
Best Time to Take: Before Food

Balaguluchyadi Kashayam Liquid

Balaguluchyadi Kashayam Liquid is readymade concentrated decoction and can be used in the following dosage.

The general dosage of Balaguluchyadi Kashayam readymade Liquid is as follows.
Children 2.5 to 10 ml *
Adults 5 to 15 ml *
Maximum Possible Dosage 30 ml Per Day (in divided doses)
* Twice a day with 4 times boiled and cooled water
Best Time to Take: Before Food

Balaguluchyadi Kashayam Tablets

Balaguluchyadi Kashayam Tablets are the extract tablets of the Balaguluchyadi decoction.

The general dosage of Balaguluchyadi Kashayam Tablets is as follows.
Children 1 tablet *
Adults 2 tablets *
Maximum Possible Dosage 4 tablets Per Day (in divided doses)
* Twice a day with warm water
Best Time to Take: 30 minutes Before Food
Note: The dosage is according to 1000 mg tablet of Balaguluchyadi Kashayam.
