Balchaturbhadra Churna is Likely Safe & Well Tolerated.

Side Effects

Generally, there are no side effects when Balchaturbhadra Churna is used wisely in patients with the dominance of Kapha Dosha or Vata Dosha. If the patient has Pitta Prakriti or any condition related to the increase of the Pitta, then it can cause following side effects:

  • Gastritis
  • Hyperacidity
  • Burning sensation in abdomen

However, these side effects are rare and only occur when its dosage exceeds from 24 mg per Kg body weight, especially seen in patients with Pitta Body Type.


Balchaturbhadra Churna should not be used in the following health conditions:

  • Constipation or hard stool
  • Hyperacidity, heartburn
  • Gastritis
  • Ulcers

      If you are using it as a preventive medicine, the dosage should be 1/4th of therapeutic dosage listed on dosage page. For example, if your child has weight 12 Kg, the therapeutic dosage is around 200 mg. To prevent recurrent respiratory diseases or fever, you should give 50 mg twice a day or 100 mg once a day.

    1. Balchaturbhadra Churna has no direct effect on body weight.

      The ingredients of Balchaturbhadra Churna also have an appetizer and digestive actions. They improve digestion and metabolism. In underweight children, the improvement in appetite and digestion may help them to eat more food, which may increase the weight.

      In overweight children, it can also act in the opposite way. It makes the proper use of fats in the body due to action on digestion and metabolism and prevention of the accumulation of fats. According to ayurveda, when the Medha Dhatu Agni (digestive fire that metabolizes fats) increases, it reduces fat in the body and reduces weight. Furthermore, it aids to increase the density and mass of the bones. Because the increase in Medha Dhatu Agni also improves the formation of the bone as per ayurvedic principles. According to ayurveda, obese people have weaker bones. This fact is now also supported by modern research studies.

      Based on these facts, Balchaturbhadra Churna should be beneficial in both cases – underweight or overweight.
