Ayurvedic Medicine for Herniated Disc

Along with Panchakarma treatment for herniated disc, the patient also requires internal medicine. We found the following formulation effective for ayurvedic treatment of slip disc and degenerative disc.

Ashwagandha Powder 20 grams
Shatavari Powder 20 grams
Yashtimadhu Powder 20 grams
Vidhara Powder 20 grams
Kaunch Beej Powder 20 grams
Trikatu Churna 5 grams

How to Make: Take all the above ingredients in powdered form and mix in the ratio given above in the table.

Dosage 3 grams
Frequency Twice Daily
Medication Time 2 hours after morning and evening meal
Adjuvant Warm milk.

In addition to the above herbal mixture, the patient also requires two more medicines:

Maha Narayana Oil

Dosage: Initially, start taking Maha Narayana Oil 2.5 ml once a day (morning). Then increases its dosage gradually to 10 ml per day in divided doses as shown in the table below:

1st week 2.5 ml morning
2nd week onward 5 ml morning
3rd week onward 5 ml morning + 2.5 ml evening

If you take 3 times meal or continue eating more than 2 times, your body might not able to digest it properly. You may feel belching with the taste of the oil. If you follow the ayurvedic diet plan and still feel belching with its taste, you should reduce its dosage and continue it in 2.5 ml dosage.

Vishtinduk Vati

Vishtinduk Vati provides symptomatic relief. Generally, most patients require it for the first 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, the patient should continue above two medicines.

Dosage 1 tablet

Adjuvant Warm milk.

All the above three medicines should be taken together.

If you need to continue Vishtinduk Vati for more than 4 weeks, then you should stop it for a week. Then restart it again for another 4 weeks. This can be repeated until you get good results. However, it is rarely required. Alternatively, you can take Maha Rasnadi Kwath during the gap period.
