What is Yoga?
Yoga can have multiple meanings and definitions depending on what tradition you follow. According to Maharishi Patanjali, yoga is
योग चित्त वृत्ति निरोध ॥ २॥
Yoga is the state of mind where all mind stuff is restrained. The mind stuff (Vrttis) includes all egos, thoughts, desires, hopes, etc.
Yoga is restraining mind from various forms (Vrttis), translated by Swami Vivekananda.
“Yoga is the cessation of mind; Yoga is the state of no-mind.” according to Osho.
Osho’s translation looks better to me. It covers all other definitions when you think deeply about it.
