  1. I used Godanti Bhasma with Sitopaladi Churna in two of my patients. Both reported of extreme difficulty in micturition and burning micturition. Even when I took it, I felt some spasmodic action on my throat. Does Godanti create any spasm on smooth muscles?

    1. Both Godanti Bhasma (prepared with Aloe Vera Juice) and Sitopaladi Churna do not cause any difficulty in micturition or burning urination. It also has no spasmodic action. It has totally opposite action and actually acts as mild antispasmodic on smooth muscles.

In your case, please check how Godanti Bhasma is prepared and in which it is processed. If it is prepared using Hartal, then it can result in similar side effects as explained.

We have observed similar problems with Godanti Hartal Bhasma, which contains Hartal (arsenic compound). When its dosage increases from 125 mg twice daily, it causes burning sensation during urination, restlessness, vertigo and feeling of uneasiness in some patient.

Godanti Hartal Bhasma and Godanti Bhasma both are different medicines.

  2. Dr. Singh,

I’m very fond of taking Patanjali brand of Chyawanprash. But I notice in the ingredient list that it contains 184 mg of Godanti Bhasma per 10 gr of the paste. Should I be concerned about taking that on a continuous basis?
