Habb-E Suranjan

Habb-E Suranjan (Habbe Suranjan) is most common Unani Medicine used for joint pains. It is beneficial in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and gout. It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory actions, which helps to alleviate the pain and inflammation associated with several types of arthritis.

Habb E Suranjan Benefits & Uses

Habb-E Suranjan is mainly used for gout. Its effects in gout are attributed to Colchicum Luteum. Suranjan (Colchicum Luteum corms) is present in all three formulas described above. In other conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, first two formulas (that contain Guggul and Mastagi) are more effective.

Dosage & Administration

The general dosage of Habb-E Suranjan is as follows.
Children 125 to 250 mg *
Adults 250 to 500 mg *
Maximum Possible Dosage Not specified, but likely to be 2 grams Per Day (in divided doses)
* Twice or Thrice Daily with Milk
Best Time to Take: An Hour After Food

Side Effects of Habb-E Suranjan

There are no side effects reported with Habb-E Suranjan.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Habb-E Suranjan is not recommendable in pregnancy. There is no information available for its use during breastfeeding. It would be best to avoid during pregnancy and lactation both.


There are no absolute contraindications for Habb-E Suranjan, but it may increase bleeding tendency, so it should be avoided 2 weeks prior schedule surgery and after surgery. It also exerts laxative action, so it should not be taken if anyone has diarrhoea.
