Procedure of Karna Purna
The followings steps are followed in Karna Purna Therapy.
- Do head massage of the patient for 15 to 30 minutes before the procedure. The brahmi oil can be used for head massage.
- Ask patient to lie down on the lateral position.
- Take medicated oils as per disease and indications of the oils.
- Pour a few drops of medicated warm oil in the affected ear and let the patient stay in the lateral position for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Ask patient to rest for a half an hour after this procedure.
The procedure should be followed continuously for a week for better and desired results.
If patient has not got the desired results, then repeat the Karna Purna procedure after a month.
Dosage of Karna Purana Oils
2 to 15 drops of medicated oils are instilled in the ears during karna purana therapy.

Not, in ruptured eardrum, there is a small tear or hole is present in tympanic membrane, which may cause leaking of oil or medicines to inner part, so karna purana is contraindicated in this condition. You should never try this treatment in a such condition.

We can start karna purana therapy after the age of 10. Karma purana is contraindicated in toddlers. However, in special cases, it can be done, but individual consultation with panchakarma specialist is required.
