Karpoorasava (Karpurasava): Amazing results in Cholera & Abdominal Muscle Cramps

Karpoorasava (also spelled as Karpurasava) is mainly used for the treatment of cholera. It reduces the frequency of watery stools and clears the infection. It also gives relief from vomiting, and muscle cramps occurring in cholera. In addition, it can also be used for the treatment of diarrhea of various origins, vomiting, and toothache.

Preparation Method: Take Rectified Spirit and add Camphor in it. Mix it well and then add powders of other ingredients. Leave it in Asava place for a month. Then decant the liquid and preserve it in food-grade bottles. Now, Karpoorasava is ready.

Karpoorasava Uses & Benefits

Karpurasava acts against cholera bacterium (vibrio cholerae). It is more effective in initial cases of cholera.

In a toothache, a cotton swab soaked in Karpurasava is placed on the affected tooth for pain relief.

Karpurasava Dosage

The general dosage of Karpurasava is as follows.
Children (above the age of 5 years)1 to 3 drops
Adults3 to 10 drops
Doses: Twice or thrice a day
Adjuvant: Misri (Sugar) or Batasa (Sugar Drop Candy)

Note:

  1. In Cholera, the dosage is repeated after every 30 to 60 minutes until acute symptoms subside.
  2. In severe cases, dosage can be increased up to 20 drops initially. As soon as patient get relief from acute symptoms, dosage should be reduced.

Safety Profile

Karpurasava should be used under the supervision of an ayurvedic physician. Its unsupervised use can be unsafe.

Side Effects of Karpurasava

It contains Camphor, the following side effects can occur with Karpurasava.

  • Gastritis
  • Burning sensation
  • Vertigo
  • Restlessness
  • Dysuria (with its high dosage)
  • Abdominal pain (with its high dosage)

If these symptoms appear, Karpurasava should be immediately stopped and seek immediate medical attention.
