If we consume gold for a long period which can lead to cirrhosis of liver, it is given in medical books. Is it corrrect?

    1. In ayurvedic medicines, gold is processed with different methods, which are not similar to gold compounds used in modern medicine (allopathy). These studies are not applicable to ayurvedic medicines. The more research studies are needed to check the side effects of gold in the ayurvedic medicines.

Most common belief is gold in form of Bhasma or addition in asava or arishta does not likely to cause any side effects because of nanoparticle nature of the metal that achieve during traditional processing of medicines. Due to this processing, metals generally lose their metallic properties.

  21. For Saraswatharishtam for adults, here you’ve suggested 4 ml with water. However, the bottle says 25 ml. Spoken to doc in Nagarjuna clinic, who too suggests 25-30 ml without water. Kindly clarify. Thanks
    Alok

    1. The dosage described in the article is applicable to Saraswatarishta gold, which contains Gold (Swarna). It is the classical dosage described in Bhaishajya Ratnavali for Saraswatarishta gold.

However, it can be taken up to 5 ml twice daily and the dosage can be increased over several days to 10 ml twice daily. But in excess dosage, it causes mouth ulcers in some cases.

The dosage recommended by your physician is applicable to Saraswatarishta without gold, which does not contain gold particles.

We can’t imagine why your doctor has recommended it without water. The standard method in all classical texts is to take it with equal amount of water.
